Black Pyrite
Metallic and blazing, Pyrite has been used to start fires since prehistoric times. Its name originates from the Greek work ‘pyr’ for fire because pyrite emits sparks when struck by iron. Pyrite has been used in jewellery throughout history by many civilisations such as the Ancient Greeks, the Romans and the Incas.
This firecracker of a stone is said to have healing powers such as cleansing the oxygen in the circulatory system and stabilising its wearer’s energy level. Pyrite stimulates the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura), promoting positive thinking, self-confidence and assertiveness, and is aligned to the three fire signs, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
